Gladys Knight, Jimmy Buffett, Montell Jordan, Peter Frampton, Bonnie Raitt and Mick Fleetwood are among the artists who contributed to the album and concert DVD ?Bridge to Havana.? Due June 29 via Pyramid/Universal, the releases chronicle a week-long 1999 collaboration between English, American and Cuban musicians in Havana.
What resulted was a 12-track studio album of songs penned during the week, some of which were later performed during a concert captured by a seven-member camera crew. PBS is expected to air the DVD as part of an upcoming pledge drive, with an airdate to be announced.
Knight and Edesio Alejandro?s ?Feelin? Good (Vacilon) is the first single from the project. Other album tracks include ?La Brisa Azul? featuring Raitt, Pablo Menendez and Rey Guerra, ?Hey Hey? featuring Frampton and Alberto Tosca and ?One World? featuring Fleetwood, Paddy Maloney, Todd Smallwood and Augusto Enriquez. Buffett and former Police guitarist Andy Summers appear on the DVD, but not on the album.
Half of the proceeds from ?Bridge to Havana? will be donated to the Miami-based Puentes Cubanos, which assists Cubans in the United States via health, educational and social programs.
